Wkly Hit List, 9/19/2025

ABC has done something this week that has it very unjust no matter what angle you look. I am talking about how on Wednesday evening, ABC and Disney chose to pull their late-night franchise Jimmy Kimmel Live off the air indefinitely, and that my friends is the subject of this week's Inside Scoop. It all started on Monday Night when Jimmy Kimmel spoke about the killing of Charlie Kirk, an American right-wing political activist and founder member of Turning Point USA. We chose not to talk about it last week since we were celebrating the 5th Anniversary of KlicKNet's YouTube Channel, we were kind enough to let the media handle it, just as they're handling the Jimmy Kimmel situation right now. Like everyone else, I can't get over CBS canceling The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in the summer after Colbert made comments about Paramount doing business with the Trump Administration, and now his how will be on the air until May 2026 next year. Now we're seeing Jimmy Kimmel suffer a similar fate, even though his show hasn't been entirely canceled, his future with ABC and Disney is very much uncertain at this time. The President has wasted no time in gloating about suspension of JKL with some pretty spineless comments, he has even called for NBC to cancel The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers, but the creditability that those two have is untouchable, I hope.

You know when we created this blog in 2014, we learned that with every post we could say whatever we wanted, that's because the First Amendment gives people free speech, no matter what they're doing, whether it's writing on a blog or hosting a talk show. When you read the statement Jimmy Kimmel made last Monday night, he said: "The "MAGA gang" was "desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it." It hard to figure out what's so harmful about those words as Kimmel was clearly talking about the assassin, not Charlie Kirk, but the Right if truly believes what he said wrong, then something is clearly wrong with them. It's been revealed that ABC and Disney did not find Kimmel's words to be harmful themselves, but the real reason that they pulled his show off the air is because they were being threatened by FCC Chair Brendan Carr who has argued that "the remarks could be seen as not in the public interest, as is required to hold a broadcast license." Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group both announced that they would pull the show from their ABC affiliates, in fact Sinclair has even demanding for Kimmel make a donation to Kirk's organization Turning Point USA, as if money can solve every single problem, every single day.

Reports have said that Kimmel has refused to apologize, but was planning on clarifying his comments and specifically call out Trump supporters the next night. Even more so, ABC is "hoping" that it will be able to have Kimmel back on the air "soon," but whether Kimmel himself is willing is also unclear." Something that hasn't been said is the fact that Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group are looking to merge and need approval from the FCC and Trump which is without a doubt the real reason why they threatened to pull Jimmy Kimmel Live from their local TV affiliates. But one thing to point out is that ABC's TV Stations are all owned by Disney and not Nexstar and Sinclair, so ABC could have still air new episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live on its own stations, regardless of what Nextstar and Sinclair decide to do. Last but not least, let's talk about the reactions surrounding Jimmy Kimmel's suspension, everybody is OUTRAGED, and rightfully so, but this is the price up pay for voting someone like Trump back into office. He has a serious problem with criticized, especially by comedian who are trying to make a living in their lives, and you know with a new season of Saturday Night Live on the horizon, who knows if they're poke of everything that has happened since the summer.

We've seen people on social media saying they're canceling their Disney Plus subscriptions as a way of showing their support to Kimmel, we've see the WGA and SAG-AFTRA speak out severely about the suspension, we've even seen protestors outside of Disney Headquarters in Burbank and New York City, demanding that Kimmel be reinstated. But most of all, we have seen The soon-to-be-over Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Daily Show on Comedy Central give their reactions to Kimmel's suspension, and lemme tell ya'll, they know how to turn a negative into a positive, see for yourself.

Personally, I truly hope that things get better and Jimmy Kimmel Live will return to production, people have been very passionate about their thoughts about the suspension and they should. The fact that comedians are being attack for telling jokes is insane, a political commentator on MSNBC was fired for making remarks about Charlie Kirk's death that don't seem too much of big deal, but we're seeing more media companies give in to the threats of the Trump Administration and all those who support it, and it's time to stand up. I can say these things on this blog because KlicKNet has been around for ten years and I doubt that the President would care about what some blogger that's unknown to him has to say. He might mistake me for Kwame Alexander the famous book author, who is black like me by the way, but the bottom line is that everyone has a right to free speech and shouldn't be afraid to use it. With all of that being said, we shall end this post with a brand new 5-Day Rounder. Thank You!
